In the 2024 Q3 World Bank Remittance Prices Worldwide quarterly survey, sending USD 200 from the United States to Ecuador carried a median total cost of 4.50% and an average total cost of 4.38% of the amount sent. Total cost, as defined by the survey, combines the transfer fee charged by the provider with the exchange-rate margin applied to the transaction, expressed together as a percentage of the USD 200 send amount.

Across the 35 providers surveyed in that same 2024 Q3 snapshot, the range of total costs was wide. The cheapest surveyed option came in at 1.95% of the send amount, while the most expensive reached 9.00%, producing a spread of more than seven percentage points between the two extremes. As of the 2024 Q3 survey, Ria was the cheapest surveyed provider for this corridor and send amount; because survey data is updated quarterly, that standing may have changed in subsequent periods.

Costs within any single provider can also differ depending on the payment method used, such as bank account or debit card, as well as the payout method available to the recipient.
