What It Costs to Send Money to Colombia from the US
In the 2024 Q3 World Bank Remittance Prices Worldwide quarterly survey, sending USD 200 from the United States to Colombia carried a median total cost of 5.34% and an average total cost of 6.64% of the amount sent. Total cost in this survey combines two components: the explicit transfer fee charged by the provider and the exchange-rate margin, which is the difference between the mid-market rate and the rate the provider applies to the transaction.
Across the 42 providers surveyed in that same 2024 Q3 snapshot, the range of total costs was wide, running from a low of 1.37% to a high of 17.50%. The cheapest surveyed provider in that period was Walmart2World, at the 1.37% figure. That ranking reflects quoted prices captured at the time of the 2024 Q3 survey and may not reflect current pricing.
Costs within this corridor can differ depending on the payment method used, such as bank account or debit card, and the payout method available to the recipient. The send amount also affects the percentage cost in some cases. The World Bank survey is updated each quarter, so figures change over time.
